Six Simple Questions - Or Are They?

1.What is the name of your cause? 

The name of my cause until he's done with his chemotherapy, is #Spookypawty

2. How does this benefit animals in need?

I chose one animal in need at this moment. I'm also working on Spay Day but that is not the purpose of this Change For Animals. @Spookyshorty on Twitter is a 13 year old kitty with Lymphoma. He's had surgery and removed a mass and is healing well but needs expensive chemotherapy treatments for the next few months. How could I not help this beautiful animal when he's going to live because of having this treatment? It would be cruel and unusual punishment to deny him life when he's got it and just needs some medication!

Spooky's typists own words: "My name is Spooky I am 13 years old and I have lymphoma. I am trying to raise enough money to keep my chemotherapy treatments going, I have 19 more weeks of chemotherapy treatments. The estimated costs are $5000.00.

I had a mass in my colon, my colon perforated when they attempted a bioposy. I, Spooky, was rushed into surgery, after 5 hours I was put in ICU. They had to drop my pelvis to get to the mass. The operation was a success, the entire mass was removed and the colon that was re-attached was FREE of cancer.

I have been getting chemotherapy, I am doing exceptionally well. I amaze my doctors.

3. Clearly lay out your call to action.

I threw a party today called #Spookypawty and invited everyone I could so that we could have a great time and raise money for Spooky. I put together a menu, had barktenders and DJ's (originally other pawty planners ideas, not mine) and we just got together under the hashtag of #Spookypawty (using Twitter) and mingled, danced, talked and had a great time! There were quizzes, people had donated prizes so we had even more incentive for anipals and their people/typists/staffpeople to be there. We all donated by chipin.com by saying that we were "tipping the DJs and Barktenders". It's a concept thought up by others, but a plan that works well.

4. What goal would you like to achieve? 

 To eventually raise $5000 for Spooky's medication. We got 25% of the way there today. I plan to throw another pawty next month as this money will cover the costs for this month. It's an exciting goal!

5. Why is this cause important to you? 

 It's part of my effort in No-Kill Nation. I'm planning much more but right now, one small step at a time!

Pet Blogger Challenge Q & A

1. When did you begin your blog / 2.  What was your original purpose for starting a blog?

  Many years ago when I wanted my children to read more I started blogging what the cats say to themselves or the world when people aren't looking or aren't listening.  When we wonder what they're thinking as they stare off into the void.


3. Is your current purpose the same? / If not, what’s different? / If so, how do you feel you’ve met your goals?


  No, now it's more hodge podge and memorializing those dear who have gone OTRB.  Rants, articles, raves, happiness and tears.  


4. Do you blog on a schedule or as the spirit moves you?  Do you worry about… well, whatever you might worry about (e.g. losing traffic, losing momentum)?


  I blog whenever it's necessary for me.  I wish I had more time to blog, actually, but I have 2 young children who devour my time like you wouldn't believe.  I don't worry about any of that.  I'm a part of the Anipals community on Twitter and instead of losing momentum I've actually gained it.  It may or may not show in my blog depending on the situation I'm going through.


5. Are you generating income from your blog?  If not currently, do you hope to in the future — and how?


  No, I'm not generating income from my current blog.  I do chipins on my blog for the animals but those are for the animals only (or Spay Day 2011 ), not for me.  In the future if the opportunity arises, then I will take that, but for now I have no plans to use it for an income.


6. What do you like most about blogging in general and your blog in particular (bragging is good!)?


  
.I write about the subject I love to write about, my animals and my family, lastly my friends.  Who wouldn't like to write like that and have something to look back at later?  I have my own personal diary of life online and other people are interested in it.  It's great for the self-esteem!


7. What do you like least?


  That I have my hands in so much that I'm not as organized as I'd like to be.


8. How do you see your blog changing/growing in 2011?


My blog will evolve with myself, my family, my animals, my Anipals and as the year goes on.  I guess I mean to say that it is free flowing.  I give it life and room to grow and se what it becomes when allowed to do so!

Mulder_Cat who was only 15 years old has just went OTRB, he bravely battled cancer, for 14 months. Mulder_Cat has been an inspiration to all who are battling cancer & many illnesses. Mulder_Cat has left behind a sister Scully_Cat & dad Staff. Most of all Mulder_Cat has left us many good memories, & has shown us not to lose our sense of humor, & has given us much Hope. Mulder_Cat you will be deeply missed here on earth, please look out for those who are crossing OTRB & guide them there safely. We will all meet again until then, thank you for sharing your life with us.

Burton Guster Crosses Over the Rainbow Bridge ~ January 3, 2011

Our beloved rat, Burton Guster Went OTRB yesterday, a VERY sad day for us all.   Everyone was shaking, no one could keep tears from their eyes.  Passion even came home from school early because she couldn't take it.  The two little kids didn't understand and we knew it would hurt us more every time they wanted to know where he was.  We decided to get 2 more rats (to keep each other warm and for company. It was going to be the most healing thing for us all.

I just got home with them and the three could be identical triplets.  I don't know what Passion's going to think but it's painful for me right now.  I hope it gets better!

Gus, baby, you and I were bonding so well and I loved you with all of my heart.  The loss of you is not something I'm going to get over quickly or easily.  Just know that I'm watching for your star every night now.  I Love You!  What else can I say? You've left a hole in my heart that may never be filled.  You're with me forever, until we meet again!
